SPICES OF DELHI-part 1

Click on Table above for enlargement.

Photo 1 : Malaysian Team, 7 among the 9 fellows.

WATCHING MISTRESS OF SPICES, STARRING AISHWARYA RAI, WE KNOW HOW FAMILIAR IS INDIA WITH SPICES. EVERY FOOD MIXED WITH VARIETY OF SPICES. ONCE TOUCHING THE TOUGUE, WE CAN TASTE IT; EITHER IT IS SWEET, SOUR, SALTY OR SPICY? STEP ON DELHI, LET US TASTE AND REALIZE WHAT LIES ON?

Photo 2 : Red Fort or 'Lal Qila' is one of the heritages of the Mughal Emperor.

THERE IS A CITY CALLED DELHI. DELHI IS THE SECOND LARGEST METROPOLIS IN INDIA, WITH POPULATION OF 17 MILLION (ESTIMATED IN 2007) AND A FEDERALLY-ADMINISTERED UNION TERRITORY OFICIALLY KNOWN AS THE NATIONAL CAPITAL TERRITORY OF DELHI (NCT). DELHI IS LOCATED ON THE BANKS OF YAMUNA RIVER IN NORTHEN INDIA, IT IS ONE OF THE OLDEST CONTINUALLY INHABITED CITIES IN THE WORLD.

Photo 3 : Sunset at Yamuna River.

SINCE BEING THE CAPITAL OF ANCIENT INDIAN EMPIRES AND A MAJOR CITY ALONG THE OLD TRADE ROUTES. THE MUGHAL EMPEROR OF SHAH JAHAN BUILT THE CITY FROM 1649 TO 1857, WHICH NOW KNOWN AS OLD DELHI. BRITISH RAJ TOOK CONTROL OF INDIA DURING 19TH CENTURY, CALCUTTA BECAME THE CAPITAL UNTIL GEORGE V ANNOUNCED IN 1911 THAT IT WAS TO MOVE BACK TO DELHI. A NEW CAPITAL CITY OF NEW DELHI WAS BUILT IN 1920s.

Photo 4 : The Glitter of modern Delhi at night.

INDIA GAINED INDEPENDENCE FROM BRITISH RULE IN 1947, NEW DELHI WAS DECLARED ITS CAPITAL AND SEAT OF GOVERNMENT. NO WONDER NEW DELHI HOUSES THE IMPORTANT BUILDINGS SUCH AS THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT INCLUDING THE PARLIAMENT OF INDIA. NOWADAYS, DELHI IS STILL GROWING UP TO BE A COSMOPOLITAN CITY WITH DEVELOPMENT AND URBANISATION.

BC9 WILL CHANGES NANGLOI

Photo 1 : Traffic flow at Nangloi Crossroad.
NOWADAY, MOST PROBLEM IN NANGLOI IS THE HEAVY LOAD TRAFFIC. SO WHEN BC9 PROJECT COMPLETE, IT IS PREDICTED THAT THIS SCENARIO WILL FADES AWAY AS THE INDIAN PEOPLE WILL USE LIGHT RAIL SYSTEM, MOSTLY CALLED METRO.

Photo 2 : Light and heavy load on road-trucks, cars, trishaws and carts.

THE UNSYSTEMATIC TRAFFIC CONTROL IS NOT JUST THE MAIN ISSUE, BUT PUBLIC SAFETY. LIGHT RAIL SYSTEM PROVIDES SAFE AND CONVINIENT JOURNEY. AT THIS JUNCTION (NEAR LG3), A FLYOVER OF NH10-NANGLOI IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION.

Photo 3 : The padestrians.

HOPEFULLY, THE BUSY AND NOISY OF NANGLOI WILL TURNS BETTER AS THE BC9 PROJECT DONE, AS PLANNED TO BE COMPLETED AS A TRIBUTE FOR DELHI AS THE HOST FOR COMMONWEALTH GAMES IN 2010.
